Dauntless Sailing School is proud to partner with NauticEd, the world’s most advanced sailing education and certification provider. Through this relationship, Dauntless Sailing School is able to provide our sailing students an unparalleled sailing education experience.

Dauntless Sailing School and NauticEd bring together three critical factors to developing competent sailors:

1.    SOLID Theoretical Knowledge. NauticEd’s interactive, online, quality training courses that have been developed from real-world experience by sailors who have sailed and chartered sailboats all over the world. Delivered via the Cloud, comprehensive eLearning course content is accessible 24/7 from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

2.    VERIFIED, Hands-On Sailing Skills Development. In early 2017, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) established, for the first time ever, national standards for sailing training and assessment rubrics. Dauntless Sailing School has fully integrated these new standards into student curricula and training support materials.

3.    DOCUMENTED Sailing Experience. Dauntless Sailing School makes documenting your on-the-water sailing experience easy by integrating NauticEd’s online logbook and smartphone app that tracks your sailing activity automatically.

Dauntless Sailing Students have a central, online source to track their educational progress, sailing competency progress, and time on the water. If you want to eventually bareboat your own sailing vacation, your online resume can be made available to the charter company eliminating the need to compile and send copies of logbook pages, paper sailing resumes, copies of sailing certificates, etc.

It all starts here:

Step 1: Sign Up For Your NauticEd Course

Option 1: Qualified Crew Member Course. This is the basic content that accompanies our Adult Beginner Sailing course. At a minimum, all beginning Dauntless Sailing School students are encouraged to learn these basic concepts.

Option 2: Skipper Course. If you already know you want to learn more then just the basics, sign up for the Skipper course. All content from the Qualified Crew Member Course is included in addition to more advanced concepts necessary to safely skipper your own vessel.

Step 2: Establish Your Online Sailing Logbook

When you register as a Dauntless Sailing School/NauticEd student you will be prompted to establish a logbook code. This is NOT an account password. In fact DON’T use your usual password. Your logbook code is meant to be shared with others so they can see the courses you’ve completed, your time on the water, and your certification achievements. To simplify things please use your first initial and last name followed by “Logbook”. For example, mine is TBrackenLogbook.

Step 3: Download Recommended Smartphone Apps

TrackLink

GPS Track your sailing ventures and store them automatically in your NauticEd electronic logbook.

NOAA Hourly Weather Graph Forecast

This is not a smartphone app (it should be). It’s a webpage you will want to “Add to Home Screen” on your smartphone.

MyRadar

I have found this weather radar application to be insanely accurate. I like the application so much I actually paid for the “Pro” version.
